The questions for the 2012 National Physician Survey (NPS) evolved from questions used on the previous editions of the survey (2004, 2007, and 2010).
A collaborative group of representatives from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Royal College) worked on updating the survey. A consultative approach was taken as multiple students and residents organizations were invited to provide their feedback into the survey creation process. The survey was created with involvement of:
Separate questionnaires were developed for medical students and residents.
All questionnaires and survey communications were available in English and French.
The 2012 NPS received ethical approval from the Dalhousie University Ethics Review Board.
